other alternative titles I had for this post:
How to Make a Head in 7 Days!
Scare Your Friends and Look Mediocre Doing It !
Daytime Hobbies of a Complete Weirdo !
alright
so I wanted to have a costume party for my 21st because costume parties are awesome, duh
and because I had been watching American Horror Story: Freakshow so much at the time my headspace was all stuck in this circus vibe so I decided to go as the conjoined twins from the show
except male and without bobcuts
AHS always takes a kind of everything but the kitchen sink but also the kitchen sink approach to writing but the special effects for these two were on point the whole season ! it was cool to just watch them exist
I watched some behind the scenes stuff and it was pretty interesting how they put it together
since I did not have another human head to attach I was trying to figure out ways to make a fake one, I didn't wanna get like a polystyrene head cos then it wouldn't really look like me
I remembered seeing people making huge heads out of paper on the internet one time so I thought I'd give that a go but just make it normal sized
yea it was a lot more complicated and time-consuming than I thought it'd be actually oh my god
I had to install a couple of completely new programs and try and learn how to use them in like one day
so I had to take photos of myself and then try to map it out in 3D
I basically used this tutorial
http://www.instructables.com/id/Real-Life-Big-Head-Mode/?ALLSTEPS
you can read it if you also want to make a paper head of yourself or someone you love
I was pretty hyped when it was all done and I could get the heck off the computer and start putting it together haha
yea I was sitting there for way too long it was v. unchill
so many pieces thoughhh
it's like those little paper models you assembled as a kid, except I forgot to put labels on it
because idk I love making everything harder for myself
yea I had to have this in front of me, all that junk on the computer screen so that I could tell which part is supposed to go where
I just printed it at home haha so the print quality probably wasn't the best
put your faith in what you most believe in two worlds one family
look at all this double sided tape I used up
all done!
I put wire inside the head because the paper was really thin and had basically NO structural integrity haha
it dented quite a bit on the night too but the wire helped me like, reinflate the saggy parts
because I was really clumsy and also not used to having a whole other head attached to me
and to put it on I just looped the wire at the end, tied string into the loops and then roped the string around me like a harness haha
it was definitely creepy though! I left it lying in my bed while I got everything ready and man it spooked me, like multiple times! I legit would forget it was there and look up and think there was someone in my bed
I apologise to everybody who I gave heart attacks to on the night
it has that thing where it's just realistic enough but something's off so it's just straight up horrifying
yea sorry about that
but pretty glad I did it haha sorry not sorry
