Mount Waverley Station, how nostalgic.
Today was also Judith's surprise birthday party, so I had to lug her present around with me all day. I have a pretty interesting story about how I struggled to get it in time. Actually it's not that interesting, in reality the "story" is just a long list of my incompetencies and how I'm a massive idiot that somehow didn't realise the only store that actually sold these things happened to be having a complete store-wide closing down sale just when I actually needed one.
Anyway I was pretty proud of myself for grabbing one 10 minutes before the store closed down for good.
Sorry that was a lie. Not for good. I just added that for emphasis. But there were like only 3 left in the store! Pretty good luck in my opinion.
I was doing Judie's card on the train, because I spent the whole day yesterday running around.
Got to Flinders Street Station around 2, Eureka Tower is just across the bridge, about 5 minutes walk away from the station.
I must look like a tourist carrying around my camera all the time.
The melodica attracted a lot of attention. Strangers kept throwing me glances and the ticket guy at Eureka Tower started a conversation which involved how he plays it in a band with a few friends. I was almost tempted to reply with "LOL you total nerd" but I decided not to because that would be hypocritical and also socially unacceptable or something.
It costs $14 to go up to Eureka Skydeck, and an additional $10 to go onto "The Edge", a glass platform which extends from the side of the tower and the floor shatters and people scream and blah di blah di blah. I wanted to go on it since I was there already but I was told the wait was a few hours, which meant I wouldn't make it in time to Judie's b'day dinner, so I just skipped it. You probably wouldn't want me to be in a confined space with children, anyway. God knows what could go wrong.
This was the first photo I took when I went up there. The moment you step out of the elevator it kinda takes your breath away, that moment alone was totally worth the 14 bucks. Oh and the elevator goes up 88 floors in like 30 seconds, makes your ears pop.
People really do look like ants.
The glass was tinted blue in some of the windows by the way. I didn't just like, add that in Photoshop cos I thought it would be a fun waste of time to make a bunch of photos look off-hue.
Judie's present.
The Yarra river. It's so brown, it instantly brings to mind thoughts of drowned bodies and garbage bags. Very scenic. Gotta love it, though.
Made a GIF of the
Melbourne CBD.
Reflections.
I also took some selfies cos I thought it was a waste to leave Eureka Skydeck without a few good profiles. Again, since I have no friends and stuff, I just got out my tripod and took a few photos myself. I must have looked like the most pretentious loser, LOL. It was quite busy that day, I almost had to elbow my way through the crowds of people. How embarrassing.
Actually, I had a few hours to kill until we had to meet for Judie's b'day, so I just sat up there and drew and worked on Judie's card. Might as well get my money's worth since I had to actually pay to get up there. It's a pretty decent place to chill, really peaceful.
Ghosts.
PicS in Da ElevAtoR ** ~~ LoLL
After I left I headed out to get wrapping paper and ribbon for the present, and also to buy more pens because I somehow lost mine up at Eureka Tower. Then met up to surprise Judie at Tarng, which I will blog soon. Or now. Yeah now.
