CHOOBRUNCH

As Choo was away for her actual birthday, we caught up for a belated one at Industry Beans, Fitzroy.
I made her a Catbug plushie (or tried)
Catbug is pretty much the best thing ever

which I didn't end up finishing in time and had to take with me
I hope you see that it looked normal at this stage
because he ended up looking a little... special
you'll see later.

graffiti around Industry Beans
this place was pretty hard to find
even though I was half an hour late, I arrived a little after the rest of the guys since they also got lost on the way
it was good, gave me a chance to finish Catbug, who I was sewing together while walking down the street
I swear I have no sense of shame anymore

although it's a brunch spot, this place is known more for their coffee
when I arrived everyone had their own cuppas already

say what you want about hipsters but they know how to decorate
like these sacks of beans behind us
so ambience

we sat for a while talking, because the menu had so many interesting sounding options, we didn't know what to pick
huge menus give me a special kind of anxiety

I ordered this chai because I knew it came in this little glass teapot
with a strainer too

of course I spilled it straight away
I like the chai here, it's creamy and the spice is nice and mild
I don't like it when it tastes like liquid gingerbread

"SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO A SUMMER'S DAY"

the coffee menu booklet
pretty neat
now prepare for food spam

Heiman's pulled pork burger

Jess' ciabatta, pretty sure she only ordered this because it had aioli in the description
great minds think alike ok

I got fried chicken
probably the least original thing to order, but hey, I felt like fried chicken ok
some days you just do
ya know

Sannie and Choo shared this charcuterie platter, a word which no-one can ever pronounce

Judie's french toast

I think everyone was taking stupid faces on other people's phones
and Heiman was trying everyone's coffees
bad idea
it ended with his backwash in my cup don't ask how

while "discreetly" signing Choo's card
and then gave her presents

this Totoro tee
it's cute

and my Catbug

"I LOOOVE YOU"

Judie also made this Catbug card
we really went for the catbug theme eh

ah expectations vs reality
don't worry, he's just special ok

happy belated birthday choo!
after brunch (more like lunch by the time we arrived though) we went around the city shopping, looking for KK presents
I don't think any of us found much though

I was pooped after so much walking today
didn't wanna move anymore

and proceeded to deflate like a balloon with no air

these guys' reactions to my social awkwardness
(I think people get used to it)
(I think)

then we all headed home

I wasn't kidding when I said I was sewing on the way there, I even have this needle stuck in my bag throughout the day as proof
remembered it when I stabbed myself getting on the bus
till next bloog
