So a couple of months ago Selina found out Bastille was touring here, and asked if I wanted to go.
And of course I said yes
Good thing I did since the tickets sold out pretty fast, apparently.
We got there a few minutes late, and by then the line already extended all the way around the building to the carpark...so we stood for a while in the crazy wind
It was like 100 kmph on Friday night
The first band that played was called Lurch & Chief, they were kind of raw, like garage-y. I liked their song We Are the Same though, it was good
Stamped
Selina. Her sis also came, but I didn't take any photos of her, woops
Well you can see half her face in this one, kind of...
And yours truly.
It was pretty dark in there, but we didn't wanna use flash in case we annoyed people so that's all the photos we have of ourselves.
The second opening act was Tigertown, who I liked but Selina didn't really get into haha. We moved down the front so that we could get close to Bastille (which paid off).
Anyway, I enjoyed them, the leads are married so that was cute.
It was also awesome when the keyboardist and the lead singer got out a trumpet and violin.
After about 2 hours of standing, Bastille finally came on with Bad Blood and it was friggin amazing. The crowd went absolutely crazy. And the lights were also insane, but more so because they kept them on full glare sweeping around directly at the audience. That's okay I don't need my eyesight.
ONLY MY EARS
Although it was hard to get a clear pic at first because he didn't stop moving haha
I think I managed to put my camera away for most of the show
I don't really wanna be one of those people who are on their phones / cameras recording for the entire concert.
I mean, I want pictures of the band too, just not the whole time you know?
Gotta enjoy the concert
Ended up with a few good snaps anyway :D
I had to record my favourite song though, Things We Lost in the Fire
It's the best.
And after that, while singing Flaws, Dan put on this grey hoodie and freaking came down into the audience and started walking around while singing. He literally walked right past me, and I was so dumbstruck. Like, open mouthed shock.
And then, as if that wasn't enough, when he came back to the stage he cut through the middle back where we were again, and stopped right next to Selina for the chorus.
I have video proof below because I'm pretty sure Selina would've wanted it. I totally tried to shove her into Dan too, with the help of Shina.
That officially makes this the most awesome gig I've been to so far.
And he walked past me again to get to the stage, and yes I did touch his arm as he walked past as if you wouldn't AHAHA.
And they ended with Pompeii, which is the song that got me into Bastille, and everybody sang along.
I really liked the atmosphere tonight, it was great. The Corner Hotel is like the perfect cozy size for a gig, plus the vibe of the crowd was really energetic and for the most part, polite. They sound exactly the same live as in the studio, Dan has an amazing voice.
I was never more glad to be outside though, it got extremely hot and sweaty jumping around in there. The 100 kmph winds were like a blessing in disguise, it was so refreshing to be outside afterwards.
Sorry if this post is incoherent.
I'm still flipping out.
I'll leave you with this photo where Dan happened to look in the direction of my camera
that's all
