Which was a must-see for both of us
For me, because he's one of the classic artists of all time and I studied his work as a kid, so I have to see his work in person
Selina, I don't know why
Maybe because her vision is terrible therefore she relates to the blurry Impressionist style of painting
My breakfast munch box, Lord of the Fries
I swear this was the best breakfast I've ever had
Perfect start to the day, deep fried food is
Sat in this nostalgic place
Japanese excursion circa 2009 anybody?
Then headed around the corner to the NGV
We were excited to see this
Selina recognised Vance Joy and I recognised Seekae, who are awesome
Fortunately today happened to be a Friday
This glass bauble deer was displayed in the entrance
There's a real deer underneath all that glass
Pretty cool
Reminds me of Ghibli for some reason
Floating bowls
That stained glass hall is also nostalgic
Then we headed to see the Monet exhibition
Spent a good few hours in there, it was awesome
I liked the lilies the most
Also while in there Selina and I realised there's a distinct difference in our artistic tastes
Haha
Photography wasn't allowed inside but me being me, I took a sneaky shot
Which turned out blurry, of course. Thanks karma
Seeing a photo is nothing like seeing the real thing up close, anyway
I feel like I spent the whole exhibition leaning in close and then backing away
I love it when paintings make you feel like you're actually there looking at the scene and not just a painting
This was set up after the exhibition for people to take photos
Again, the difference - Selina: bright orange jumper
Me: almost all black
How are we even friends
Spent some time browsing the little shop at the end of the museum
Most stuff was ridiculously overpriced e.g. a $60 umbrella
We kind of wanted a memento anyway so Selina and I grabbed a bookmark each
And I got that postcard, on a whim
Our tickets
I was feeling lightheaded from the stuffy museum air so we walked down to 7/11 to buy some water
Then Selina had to head home and finish off some uni work (boo)
And I headed back to explore the rest of the museum and see the concert later
They were setting up something in the hall where the stained glass ceiling was
The museum area was strangely empty
Kind of eerie but also nice because I could act the fool in public
And I don't feel pressure to move on or stand a certain distance away from the pieces
Some 18th C manga
And ukiyo-e (traditional Japanese woodblock prints)
Was excited to see this real Picasso piece
This was my favourite area of the museum, the European exhibit
Too bad that they were closing by the time I reached this part
Didn't have time to stop and take photos
Like, any
Since I found out on my phone that the concert costs like $30
And today's was sold out
Bahhhhhh
They should really put that on the signs
It was raining on the way home
I took this pic of my new bling
The joints move
It's like a jolly rattling skeleton
