CHEESE & CRACKERS

CHEESE AND CRACKERS, GROMIT.

OK so Scienceworks was having a Wallace & Gromit exhibition and even though I was in the midst of SWOTVAC and exams were a few days away, I couldn't miss out on it. I already missed out on the Tim Burton exhibition a couple of years ago which I regret and will regret for the rest of my life. Unless he has another exhibition.

Met up with Judie and took the train to Southern Cross. I have the worst luck with public transport, Judie got to see the sorry sight of me frantically running up the platform as the train departed with her inside.

By the way, I warn you in advance that this post has a crapload of image spam.

It was Melbourne Cup day today, so Judie got a day off placement and we got to see the ridiculous amount of people dressed up. I saw a lady with A WATERMELON HAT.
She literally looked like this.

I just drew that in Paint so er yeah.

Southern Cross Station.

We were supposed to go to this awesome looking cafe called kinfolk, but I guess it was closed due to Melbourne Cup day, so we relocated to Purple Peanuts instead.

OCTOPUS.
Purple Peanuts is a very quaint Japanese cafe.

Judie's sushi rolls.

Fried onigiri.

My teriyaki "burger". I say "burger" because the bread was Turkish bread, made for a different but interesting sandwich.

Matcha (green tea) cookies.

I didn't wanna fill up a whole lot of space with my face because, ew. You don't want that.
So I put these two photos together, here's the interior of Purple Peanuts. And my weird reaction to the matcha cookies.

I found the taste a bit strange. For some reason they tasted like peanut butter?
Judie found them alright.

They were giving out free mocktails because of Melbourne Cup day. I never knew it was such a big thing, never been in the city during Melbourne Cup. Usually I languor in squalor in my room, resting off sleep deprivation from school.

The weather was pleasant today.

If you squint you can see the rain pitter-pattering off the roof of the car.

Hopped on a train to get to Scienceworks, there was this giant golden Buddha that I attempted to take a photo of but failed spectacularly.

Saw these poles while walking from the station.

Cosmic goodness and a robot.

Hmm Scienceworks seemed so much bigger in my memory from a child. It was kinda depressing going back there and realising it's actually located exactly in the middle of nowhere. We passed like, ham factories while walking there.

But I got really pumped as soon as I saw this:

CHEESE AND CRACKERS GROMIT.

Their house was the entrance.

The main reason I really wanted to go to this exhibition is that they had the real sets and models that they used to animate the movies. So basically what you saw before you is the exact same thing they used when making the actual movie AHHHH FANGASM.

Everything was so immaculately detailed. Seriously makes me want to work in the stop-motion industry seeing all this, it was amazing.

They also had other bits lying around like this "Glass Hammer". I didn't find them as interesting as the models & sets though, those like made it worth coming.

SHAUN THE SHEEP.

We found this target thingy.

I obviously can't throw.

They had a drawing booth thing.

And also a game where you had to collect things with an invention.

LOOK AT THESE SETS THOUGH.

BEAUTIFUL.

There was this machine that fired stuff. Well not really, it only showed on the screen. And the machine was made of plastic.

Um LOL sorry I just had to post this, it's too funny. Well she gets her own back here.

I think I was trying to do Wallace's facial expression but it just turned into an insane pedophile.

We found this slide thing and decided to play on it like the kids we are.

Then I decided to be a total creep.

I think the slide was supposed to be a bath or something because this was on top...

'something' plughole.

Right next to the slide was a karaoke disco shower.

Thriller, aww yeee!

Staying classy, as always.
Then we experimented with a music maker program

I really like this photo of Judie. Looks like some serious profesh music business goin' on.
Basically how to program works is you pick out sounds and when your character walks past them, the sound plays. I'm such a child and easily entertained, I don't know why but I found it extremely fun.

Judie found this scrolling page of invention diagrams.

Had some interesting things.

I seriously need this one.

I don't know what the heck this invention horrifying creature-from-the-abyss was supposed to be, but the boots stomped if you jumped in its mouth. Judie pointed out the machine is supposed to resemble Wallace's face, I didn't realise. I just thought Michael Jackson got resurrected as a machine.

The last section was the garden from The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Loved it.
We wanted to go in this playground but:

Judith's "CURSES! FOILED!" face.

That was it for the Wallace and Gromit section.

This weird thing at the exit.
We checked out the little shop since it was right there.

"IT'S LIKE NO CHEESE I'VE EVER TASTED"

Our free badges. I may have been just a little overenthusiastic in taking grabbing and hoarding these, I went full-on cray. Not a pretty sight.

I told Judie to swing this as hard as she could. I don't know what she was doing but it just flopped around like a wet noodle instead of making any noise haha.

I love gemstones, I wanna collect them one day. I think that phase that all kids go through where they want to be an archaeologist just stuck with me and never went away.

This thing hypnotised me.

I leave you with this photo of Judie being very confused by a telephone.
We went through the main Scienceworks as well but I'll put that all in another post because this one is already too massive.

The next one will be just as huge though.
