Kat's Birthday

It was this girl's birthday.

Strictly speaking it wasn't her exact birthday, but you know.
We seem to find ourselves eating at Sofia's a lot. I guess it's convenient since it's pretty low key and also Italian food is horrible for your health and delicious.
The night was pretty fun, catching up with everyone and how they're going is really good. It's nice we still get nights to meet up. Seems like everybody pretty much hates Uni. Well, I certainly do. Actually not really. But I do admittedly harbour some (most likely extremely noticeable) resentment towards those who love Uni. If you tell me you love everything about Uni, I will punch you in the face.

Don't get me wrong, I don't regret going to Uni at all. Sometimes I catch myself unaware actually enjoying some aspects of it, and I have to shake myself back to reality.
I guess Uni's just really boring. It's so unengaging, especially business. I am not business minded at all. I cannot imagine becoming a businessman in the future, it's so dry and tedious.

Anyway, back to the night. We basically just ate and chatted away so here are some funny photos for your personal amusement at the expense of those in the photos.

Here's some garlic bread. I love this stuff, I could eat it for the rest of my life.
Hah and I still wonder why people don't talk to me.

Sometimes people take my camera to snap some photos and I end up with a ton of random, sometimes extremely uncomfortably weird photos on my computer.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing - since I'm a lazy person.
I'm too lazy to put in all the effort of asking people to turn around, pose, and then stay still for a while until I've decided I have enough photos of them standing in awkward positions.
The upside of this is that I end up with some nice, candid and really funny photos.
The downside of this is that I end up with no actual 'nice' photos of people.

For example, when I get home from the night of Katrina's birthday I copy the photos onto my computer and I find some really strange pictures.
Like people eating lemons.

I made a GIF of it because there were so many pictures just of people eating lemons.

...like, what?

After dinner we gave the birthday girl her presents + cake.
And we also ordered GELATO which is my favourite. If you know me, then you know that I live for ice cream.

What's this you say about caring about public appearances?
Judith made this custom photo booklet for Kat, it was pretty sick.

Group photo shot.
We parted ways around 9 - 10-ish. Selina and I decided to desperately try and catch the last showing of the Hunger Games. This is around the time when the hype surrounding the Hunger Games was ridiculously huge. We walked all the way to Syndal Station from Sofia's and then caught a train to Glen Waverley.
The film was pretty good; I thought the casting was pretty spot on. I guess having read the book beforehand has it's advantages and disadvantages; the plot is spoiled, but you understand the little details that no-one else does.

Here's a photo of Selina talking to her imaginary friends. They're the only people that'll listen to her.

Jess' Birthday

It was Jess' birthday.

Met up with Judie at Oakleigh Station, it's closer for both of us. Here are some of the prizes she won from an artist called Mall who had a free prize draw, they're amaaaazing.
I still can't believe Judie won, what're the odds. HOW UNBELIEVABLY LUCKY.
You can see more of them on Judie's blog here and visit Mall's blog here.

We all got there a bit early so we could ambush Jess. It didn't exactly go as planned.
Just imagine a group of strange looking, Asian teenagers springing out of the bushes, running haphazardly towards one lone Asian. Like a pack of wolves. When they get there, they don't know what to do with this lone Asian, so they form an extremely awkward circle and give her disjointed, half-hearted pushes for an indeterminate period of time.

Oh and by "there" I mean the Botanical Gardens.

There's a nice shot of Caf. Imagine David Attenborough saying something along the lines of "And here we see Cathlene in her natural habitat.".
And here's the birthday girl.

We are so classy.Afterwards we just chilled in the park - played an interesting people game. Can't remember the name of though. It was kinda like a messed up version of 20 Questions. And I won't even try to explain it here, since people who were actually there in person still didn't understand it.Look at these poor ducks. I'm not an expert on ponds but I'm pretty sure that can't be good for the ducks or whatever living creatures still remaining in the pond.

Pleasant surprise waiting for me when I got home...
Judie made us get home late! We took the wrong line, even though I swear both the signs and the announcer said "Cranbourne" and as a result ended up in some weirdo suburb named Balaclava.

It was totes weird man.
Apparently there's a suburb called Officer somewhere down in the south-east of Melbourne. What an awesome name for a suburb. Beats Oakleigh any day.

Moomba

My friend's friend had an exchange student in Melbourne, so us being the nice people we are, decided to accompany them along to Moomba. I haven't been there in yeeeaaaars.
The last time I went was probably when I was 8 or 9, fond memories as I won a giant Kermit doll, made even more epic by the fact that it was taller than me at the time.
A lot of things were taller than me back then.
Don't you feel sorry for her already? (the exchange student)

Obligatory shot of the Melbourne Central ceiling.
Went to grab dinner before we headed out to Moomba, at Nando's.
I'd already had dinner so I just swung by McDonald's for junk...I always buy cookies every time I visit Macca's, it's becoming a thing.

We lined up to ride this crazy thing; basically it just spins around a lot. It was pretty fun I guess, although as expected, most of the rides were way overpriced so I only went on one. Not a fan of theme park rides - I much prefer the food. Disappointingly, there wasn't anything too interesting in the way of snacks. Wish they had alligator burgers like last time.
Selina looks calm here but in reality she was shitting herself. She can't handle rides.

Haha classic. I wish I could look this retarded.
(Just kidding, I probably look worse just walking down the street.)
Jess and Sannie didn't go on the ride with us; Wilson went to go look for 'em since they wandered off so they only arrived after we got on the ride.
D'oh.
Here's a nice picture of Wynne. Aren't I pleasant.
Hah.

Classy.
After the ride we crossed the bridge to see if it was any more interesting on the other side. The grass wasn't too much greener. I say this as I don't actually remember noticing anything even remotely memorable.

Wilson and Caf went on this crazy ride! It was literally a pole that swung around in a circle. Vertically.
Looked pretty freakin' insane.

Check out these chicks behind Wilson and Caf. Talk about professional photo bombing LOL.
Actually it's extremely creepy. Who the heck poses for other people's photos? I usually duck for cover whenever I see a camera, like behind a pole or something. And I mean, not even when strangers are happening to take photos near me, but whenever a camera is pointed in my general direction at all.

I heard Josh Pyke was playing on one of the nights; I got really hyped up. And then I heard music so I ran towards it like a complete idiot. I probably looked like some weird freak limping haggardly across the lawn towards the pretty lights but you know what I really like Josh Pyke.

Unfortunately it was not Josh Pyke.
Damn.
Check out his music though, it's pretty good. He's an Aussie artist; here's one of my favourites of his.
It's called "The Summer" and it is ridiculously nostalgic.

Took a video of the fireworks by the Yarra. Surprisingly the fireworks weren't that terrible; the atmosphere was pretty good actually. Weird. I guess most people aren't complete cynics like I am, but of course being a cynic I can't admit there's such a thing.
After that most of the group went home; not much left to do I guess. Joey, Selina and I stayed behind because we're sad and we really wanted corndogs. Oh and those two wanted the grey bear thingies.

In the end we didn't win anything and we couldn't even find corndogs. Can you believe I've never even had corndogs before?? I can't believe they didn't have corndogs there. I'm probably making a bigger issue out of this than I should be. Blame it on my extreme white-washedness.
We settled for poffertjes. Turns out it's not as hard to pronounce as it looks! POF - ERT- JEZ. Poffertjes.

Black Jack is pretty rigged; what they do is give out a load of even numbers and a few odd numbers; you can't add up to 21 without an odd number. It was pretty depressing and money draining seeing people around you getting 21. Oh well.
While waiting for the train to depart Selina updated our failure on Facebook; because we all know that nothing actually happens unless it's validated by a post on Facebook.

Sorry for the long post, y'all. More to come! Or something.
