Truth be told I didn't know what to expect, since this was my first time going to a concert.
Yeah that's right, blah blah, I'm a sad kid.
Anyway the concert was at Rod Laver Arena, and at the last minute I got ditched by Selina so I had to somehow find my own way there.
After losing my way a bit, I decided to follow the massive crowds of people walking down the street, assuming they were going to Rod Laver too.
I wasn't wrong.
Here's a pic of me waiting for Selina to arrive. I was totally expecting her to be late, but whaddya know.
They actually weren't allowing cameras into the concert, but I snuck mine inside in my jacket pocket like a sneaky bugger.
And they didn't allow you to bring water inside. Wait, let me rephrase that. They let you bring bottled water inside on one condition: you had to take the lid off. After asking many people, who suggested various theories such as so that you can't throw the bottle, in case there are explosives inside the bottle, and a multitude of other similarly preposterous ideas, I still have no idea why they make you do that. I'm pretty sure it's just so that you have to buy water there, which of course is ridiculously expensive.
We checked out the merch stall before heading inside: I grabbed a poster (now hanging proudly on my wall) and a concert booklet for Selina as an early birthday present. I say this as I didn't get her an actual present, but more on that later.
This was the inside of the stadium, it was freaking massive.
Took this panorama pic on my iPod.
Selina's sister Shina came as well.
Haha, if you can't tell from the picture, I definitely do not like having my photo taken.
This is when Florence came on, you can see her silhouette through the screen. The atmosphere was freaking INCREDIBLE. I tried to avoid taking pictures, I prefer to spend my time watching the actual concert. We were pretty far away anyway, so you can't really see her, although in these pictures below you can see her on the screens that are on the sides of the stage.
Here's a video I just HAD to record, when she started to sing Shake It Out. It's really hard to pick a favourite since I love pretty much everything that comes out of her mouth, but if I had to pick a favourite it would be Shake It Out. It's really shaky at the start, as I immediately forgot that I was recording and became absorbed in what Florence was doing, but it gets better later on as I remember how to keep my hands still.
Near the very end of the video I zoom out and you can see for a second the crazy amount of people in Rod Laver. Have I mentioned I've never been to Rod Laver Arena before?
I've never been to Rod Laver Arena before.
Ah, what a crazy night. Her voice was divine; it's like nothing you've ever heard on any recording of her, it was AMAZING. When you hear her sing live you realise why singers are so successful, because I tell you what, they can freakin' sing.
After Shake It Out she sang Dog Days Are Over, which was equally crazy as you can see from the video.
She did this thing where we all jumped on cue - I stopped recording since I wanted to jump too but you should've seen everybody jumping, the whole stadium, it was INSANE and BLOODY AWESOME.
Oh and she had a dance-off for the people in the mosh pit, the winner got a kiss from Isa (the keyboard-ist and writer of a lot of Florence's songs). I was pretty jealous of the people down there, they got to brush hands with Florence SO MANY TIMES.
SORRY FOR THE RANDOM CAPITALS. If it feels like I am yelling at you through my computer, that's because I TOTALLY AM.
Ahhh mannn, I have to say, I would have LOVED to have gone to an earlier concert when she wasn't so famous. It would have been the BEST to go to a more impromptu, smaller concert.
Anyways, I ended that night by re-watching the above video endlessly in my room until I fell asleep.
