Posting some design stuff I did the other day:

My half-assed attempt to fold an origami bee.
My theme for the brief was Japan, so I came up with the idea of using origami + Japanese colours
The brief was so vague, nobody is our class knew what we were doing? We were supposed to make the letters T, Y, P & E based around a theme. Our tutor reprimanded some people for directly creating letters e.g. out of clay or branches, but then went and reprimanded other people for using letters they found in the environment e.g. signage.
It was so confusing and frustrating, especially since it was our first brief of the year.

My last attempt at a hornet/bee, by this stage I had a multitude of failures (bee corpses I like to call them) lying around on my table. I didn't bother to take a photo on my actual camera, so you can have this crappy Instagram one instead.

I had to fold a lot of origami.

Like tons.

My first letter T was based around the ocean since Japan is an island and consumes quite a lot of seafood.

My second letter Y was based around modern cities of Japan.

First time I set this up, I accidentally exhaled too loudly and blew them all down.
Wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry, since it was 2am and I was so exhausted.

Had to stack these freaking towers one by one...
Sorry these photos are all squares, the brief required a square-shaped image so I thought it would just be easier to take it 1x1 format on my camera to speed up the editing process.

Blowing them all down (after getting a photo this time) sure was satisfying.
Sorry about that crappy GIF, my room has pretty bad lighting...I need a new light

Third concept was flowers..and birds? I think I tried to pass off this concept as Ikebana or something but to be honest I was super tired at this stage and just wanted to make simple origami haha.

E had some traditional origami patterns, and also boats because these were quick and easy to fold.

My final TYPE.
I submitted it at 5:35am exactly. My tutor totally called me out the next day, he was like, "Nice to see some of you worked hard and submitted it early. Compared to others who obviously left theirs to the last minute, I think the latest submission I had was at 5am!"

I may have complained a lot in this post but I was pretty happy with my outcome, and my tutor liked it in the end too so all's good.

I ♥ PHO

So today was Good Friday
Took the chance to meet up for Kat's birthday
Because I was in charge of organisation, everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong
So we ended up being an hour late
I'M SO SORRY KAT

Started this card last night, as usual I was working on it while travelling to the birthday place.
Apparently afterwards, Kat's mum thought the cats were sharks...oops.

Did a little pop-up thing, 8-bit style. You can always tell which message is mine on cards because of the derpy drawings.
We headed to Richmond, since even on Good Friday shops would probably still be open.

I'm also derpy in real life.
Originally planned to go to Pho Chu The, but they were so busy that we relocated to I ♥ Pho down the road. I was going to reserve spots, but Asian places don't usually bother with reservations...especially when they're super busy. Also, we would've been extremely late for the reservation anyway.
I told you everything goes wrong with me in charge, haha.

I try my best.

Lots of people had stuff going on around the Easter break, but those who could make it came.
Thanks guys!

The food took a loooong time to come out, but when it did it came out all at once, so that was nice. Normally I'm polite and wait till everyone has their food until I start eating, so I didn't have to bother today. Good because I was freaking starving.

PHO

Jo's three colour drink thingy

Ate and chatted, it's good to catch up with peeps since we're all at different uni's.
After eating we headed back to Kat's parent's shop to eat some cake.

I ran around the city like a crazy loon this morning looking for this cake.

Hah, these two photos are identical, except one person isn't visible in each one...

Gave Kat her presents.

My last minute card.

Hot choc from Wynne.

PIPLUP SLIPPERS

AND MARIO CHESS

I was a bit envious of her presents especially this Mario chess
It was so awesome & detailed

Look at the characters!

After that we chatted some more, before parting ways.
Happy 19th B'day Kat!
Even though we were horribly late, she still enjoyed today, so I'm glad :)
Lesson: don't let Edward do shit, he's incompetent

I leave you with this awesome photo

JESS TURNS 19

We had a big ol' family gathering at Jess' house
It was a kind of a belated thing for Jess' birthday since she was in Cambodia on the actual day of her birthday

Playing Taboo

And then Caf, Jo, Wilson & I went to pick up fish n' chips.

Also I brought the horse mask with me today.

These people were outside signing the card (not so sneakily)
Look at this ridiculously huge tray of Ferrero Rocher
Took about a row home with me
#sorrynotsorry

And I wore the horse mask to the chicken place
I don't know how people reacted because I couldn't really see anything
But one person thought I was the loser in a dare
Nope, sorry, my idiocy is voluntary

Also I needed a photo in it before I had to return it

We got a friggin huge box of chips

TIME TO EAT.

Somebody brought this penguin game thingy called "Pengoloo".
I forgot how it works already

I won, believe it or not.

Look at these things though.

Jess' candles

Wynne made this bouquet out of Ferrero wrappers
She made me eat like 10 of them in the process

Stuff for Jess

Unfortunately her sparklers burnt out pretty quickly before she could blow em out

Then we did the whole presents + cake shebang

It's real Chanel I swear.

Homan showing us how they eat cake in the villages

This awesome Hug Mug

And B came back from M'sia or something with some bracelets fo us

And then the girls watched Jess' sister's wedding video
Which was nicely shot
It's always interesting to hear the behind the scenes stories though

Anyway, till next time
